Senior Estimator

Location : Swansea, South Wales

Salary :    £26,000 - £30,000 per annum depending on experience

Duration : Permanent (37 Hours a week)

Benefits : Company Pension + 25 Days Holiday

A well-established manufacturing company in Swansea has an immediate position available for a Senior Estimator to join its experienced office engineering team. This rapidly expanding company designs, manufactures and installs bespoke heat transfer and high-pressure equipment in the petro-chemical and power generation industries.

Working within the engineering team, the Senior Estimator will be responsible for the pricing of enquiries for various types of pressure equipment for the power generation and petrochemical industries. The enquiries will be from British and overseas customers and will range in value from £10k to £1M plus

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyse and record customer requirements from enquiry drawings and specifications.
• Liaise with customers to discuss enquiry requirements and develop working relationships.
• Liaise with company engineers to discuss best methods for manufacture.
• Occasionally visit customer sites for visual and/or dimensional surveys of equipment.
• Prepare and formulate estimate sheets to record engineering, material, fabrication (times) and inspection costs.
• Submit enquiries to material suppliers and sub-contractors to obtain quotations.
• Prepare and submit detailed quotations..
• Ensure quotations are submitted on time and to customer’s requirements.
• Follow up quotations to discuss price, delivery and status.
• Occasionally visit customer sites for clarification meetings.
• Maintain enquiry register, keeping costs, status and feedback up to date.
• Assist company engineers with material procurement.

Candidate Requirements:

• Experience of working in a similar role for a manufacturing company fabricating machined or welded components.
• Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings.
• Must be competent in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel software. The ability to use Microsoft project would be helpful.
• Highly motivated with strong communication and organisation skills.
• Ability to work individually and prioritise tasks.
• Able to work efficiently to meet challenging deadlines.
• Qualified to HNC level in engineering, although proven experience in a similar role and industry would be sufficient.
• Experience of pressure retaining equipment, specifically power station boiler equipment and knowledge of BS1113 / EN 12952 design codes would be beneficial.
