AWRThe Agency Workers Regulations (AWR) came into force in the UK on 1st October 2011, giving agency workers the entitlement to the same basic employment and working conditions as if they had been employed directly to do the same job, after they complete a qualifying period of 12 weeks in the same job. Under the new legislation agency workers have certain rights from day 1 and after 12 weeks in the same job. Day 1 rights: the hirer must ensure that the workers have access to all facilities (such as canteen, childcare facilities, parking etc) and can access information on internal job vacancies. After 12 weeks in the same job: Following the 12 week qualifying period the temporary workers will be entitled to equal treatment, including; pay, working hours, overtime, breaks, holidays and access to training and collective facilities. The Department of Business Innovation and Skills have now released the full guidance to the agency workers regulations.
